Grow Giant Kelp, Sink It, Repeat
The worlds fastest growing seaweed is giant kelp which can grow up to two feet per day while consuming large amounts of CO2. To remove CO2 from the oceans we will create huge giant kelp forests and then cut and sink them into the deep ocean where the carbon will be removed from the atmospheric biological carbon cycle. According to many scientists who presented their finding to the United Nations (UNESCO) and the National Science Foundation giant kelp is a top method for future atmospheric CO2 removal. Giant kelp sequestration of CO2 can remove millions and potentially multiple billions of tons annually (gigatons). To stabilize the temperature of our atmosphere we need to remove at least 250-350 billion tons by 2050. CO2 sequestration that rapidly sinks the kelp into the deep ocean should reduce the CO2 in the atmosphere several times faster and much cheaper than other known methods. The key is to solve the cost prohibitive barriers of farming kelp in the open ocean. Kelp forests also help clean up and pH balance the now polluted acidic oceans. We are planning a large scale giant kelp farm system in nutrient rich open ocean locations.

CO2 Reduction Challenge
The worlds food supply is dependant upon crop cultivation that relies upon rainfall and glacial runoff. CO2 is melting glaciers into extinction and causing weather changes including severe droughts.
The oceans are slowly dying from CO2 toxicity. With atmospheric warming levels beyond 2°C by 2100, risks of extirpation, extinction and ecosystem collapse escalate rapidly.
Switching to low carbon emmission technologies is not enough. Removing CO2 from the earths biological carbon cycle on a massive scale must be started ASAP.

The Cost of Carbon Removal
Our goal is to remove CO2 from the atmosphere for less than $100 per metric ton and then ultimately achieve $50 per metric ton by 2040. $100 per metric ton is the goal set by Paris Climate Agreement for all CO2 removal methods by 2050.
To support the lifestyle of the average U.S. citizen about 16 tons of CO2 is added to the atmosphere every year. In Europe its between 5 and 10 tons. In Asia its between 2 and 10 tons.
